#wegiveatruck Summer Photo Contest

What do you get when you invite truck drivers — many of whom see thousands of miles of scenery in any given day — to submit photographs depicting summer weather?

Not only do you get striking photos of meteorological phenomena, but our recent #wegiveatruck Facebook photo contest also garnered many images that were just as striking in their simplicity.

Throughout the contest, which was open to transportation professionals and their families regardless of employer or resident state, we received submissions from individuals employed by D&D Transportation, and from professionals working elsewhere.

Included in the submissions were stunning photographs of lightning, wildfire, and cloud formations, but also refreshingly candid images of truck drivers spending time with their families, enjoying a day at the water park, barbecuing, and otherwise enjoying the warm summer days.

All in all, we were impressed to see such talent among our D&D family and beyond. And our Facebook audience seemed to agree: when invited to select their favorite of the semifinalists’ photos (by liking and commenting within Facebook), we received nearly 400 votes by the contest’s end!

Our first, second, and third place winners were then awarded pre-paid Visa cash cards, and our third runner-up received swag from D&D Transportation.

Here are the winning photos:
